SLEEP: Please Read This

Proverbs 24:33-34 NIV
[33] A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest--- [34] and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

This scripture has been used to make those of us who sleep for six hours feel guilty. Actually, take a look at a few verses before this and you’d see that it’s been taken out of context somewhat. Here’s what we have;

Proverbs 24:30-32 NIV
[30] I went past the field of a sluggard, past the vineyard of someone who has no sense; [31] thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins. [32] I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw:

So here’s the thing; if you’re not a sluggard and you have sense, please sleep well. Work hard and sleep well.

A few days ago I watched Jeff Bezos say he sleeps 7 hours a day. When he said that. I thought to myself; Wale, what’s your problem?

The truth is if you don’t sleep well on a consistent basis, you’re likely to have high blood pressure, diabetes or heart attack. Rejecting this in Jesus name without sleeping well won’t cut it. Rest is not a carnal component. It’s very spiritual.

Like one of my senior friends told me a few days ago, the body keeps the score. It always does without fail. #sleep #rest
